With most of the state unable to gather together in person, the Highlands Center is bringing our community together through online experiences as we navigate the impacts of COVID-19. We are moving several of our Signature Events ONLINE for 2020, including the Wander the Wild auction/fundraiser, the Grow Native! Plant Sale and the 1st Annual Prescott Plein Air Fest.

Arthropalooza Week –

From August 15-22, check out our website and Facebook page for fun activities and videos all about Arthropods.   While the August 15th Family Festival has been cancelled, you still can learn more about bugs and other arthropods during the month of August by tuning into our Arthropalooza Week.

Prescott Plein Air Art Festival 

October 1 through October 4, 2020

Over 10 professional Arizona artists will focus their artistic talents on the outdoors to celebrate diverse Prescott landscapes. Paintings will be displayed during a Reception and Sales Event at The Finn – Touchmark on October 4. There will be an online sale of the Plein Air artists’ paintings October 6th thru 17th.  Tickets will go on sale August 15th. 

Fresh Air Moments

Our education staff has been creating nature and science-related videos and podcasts. These posts are intended to be interactive, shared, and to be a resource for all people. “Fresh Air Moments” are our way of encouraging everyone to take a moment outside everyday – on your porch, in your backyard, walking on the sidewalk, or on local trails like here at the Highlands Center.

Formed in 1996, the Highlands Center for Natural History is a non-profit organization developed to foster an appreciation for and knowledge of the natural wonders of the Central Arizona Highlands.
