Summary: The Pine Fire received significant moisture Thursday diminishing fire activity. Fire managers may have Air Attack fly over the fire to monitor and gather information within the fire area. Forest ordered closures can be expected in the future so that fire managers and forest personnel can go in and evaluate the fire area to mitigate any hazard trees along the wilderness trail systems for public safety.
Due to the fire’s remote location and very few values at risk, along with predicted moisture, fire managers will continue engaging the fire with a monitor strategy to limit the exposure to ground and aerial firefighting resources. The remote location would present challenges to extract an injured firefighter if an incident occurred.
Resources: 1-Air Attack (Aerial Observer)
Weather: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures ranging for 89-99, minimum relative humidity 20-30%, winds 5-10 MPH out of the South West, forecasted thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds. There will be a 50 % chance of precipitation.
Closures: All trails leading into the Pine Mountain Wilderness for public safety.
